About me

My name is Iris Goedhart, 30 years old, ultra runner, and sports physiotherapist.
I started Running by Iris out of a passion for trail running and the excitement I experienced from achieving my own goals. As an ultra runner, I’ve had the opportunity to gain experience in working towards a goal, following a structured training plan, and feeling the euphoria of reaching that goal.

In addition, I’ve been working as a (sports) physiotherapist for 10 years. This has helped me to catch small aches early on and prevent long-term injuries.

This has led me to want to help other athletes reach their goals by sharing my knowledge and experience.

What is the goal of Running by Iris?

With Running by Iris, I create the opportunity for (amateur) runners to approach their training and goals in a professional way.

For who is Running by Iris?

Every runner can get started in their own way with Running by Iris because everything is tailored to the individual.

As an ultra trail runner, I really enjoy coaching fellow enthusiasts towards goals like completing their first ultra.

However, because running gives me so much satisfaction, I find it just as rewarding to help someone reach their first 5K, 10K, or even a marathon. No matter how small the goal, achieving a running milestone is something special, even for a coach!

How does the registration process work?

To ensure that the runner and I are a good match for the process, I always schedule a non-binding online meeting in advance. During this meeting, we’ll discuss what the athlete can expect from me and what I expect from them, as well as any questions or expectations they have.

If it’s a great match, we’ll create a connection via a personal link through TrainingPeaks. This is where the training plans will appear, and you can get started with enthusiasm!

Why is a running analysis beneficial?

I always say: "Everyone can run, but running is a sport." And every athlete has the potential to improve. Through analysis, your weak points can be identified, and by working on them, you can increase your running efficiency.

Additionally, running is a complex movement with many variations. The biggest predictor of injury is having had an injury in the past two years. Due to compensating for pain, movement patterns (often unconsciously) change, which eventually leads to the next injury. These compensation patterns become visible in the analysis.
